Company History
The founding years from 1939 to 1961
The company was founded in 1939 by Hermann Schmid in Brixlegg. At the beginning, a wide variety of transports were carried out in the regional area. In the mid-1950s, the company started with international freight transports. Hermann’s daughter Rosmarie and her husband Helmut Lang joined the company in 1961, the localization changed from Brixlegg to Radfeld in 1965, with its own work shop.
International long-distance transport was further expanded and operated with tautliners and refrigerated vehicles. The growth of the company required a new move to a larger company site, which was opened in 1978 in Brixlegg, Niederfeldweg. The fleet grew up to approximately 40 tautliners, refrigerated transports were discontinued. Rosmarie and Helmut Lang's sons, Hermann and Thomas, joined the family business in 1996. In 2018 Christian Höllwarth took over the company from Hermann and Thomas Lang, again included refrigerated transports and moved the company to Radfeld.
As a family business, Hermann Schmid Transporte represents a highest level of professional competence, quality and traditional values.
Our company currently employs local drivers and all of them are registered in Tyrol. Because all drivers speak German, direct communication is possible without any translator. This means that information is passed on directly to the dispatcher. Most of our drivers also speak Italian, which is an advantage at the loading- and unloading points in Italy.
The disposition team consists of Franz Gwercher and his son Otto Jan Gwercher. The loads are agreed with the customers in German, English and Italian. Through the combination of years of experience in transport logistics and a certain kind of know-how, our vehicles are classified as best as possible by the two dispatchers.
We always respond to the individual needs of our customers and we always do our best to act professionally and reliably.
